to die to self: The Easter Emphasis → set-apartgirl.tumblr.com

set-apartgirl:

An excerpt from A.W. Tozer’s The Radical Cross

At the risk of sounding more than slightly repetitious, I want to urge again the we Christians look to our doctrinal emphases.

If we would know the power of truth we must emphasize it. Creedal truth is coal lying inert in the depths of the…

Loving life

01. Travel around APAC:
be astound and educated by the various culture/lifestyle
02. Sponsor a child (that needs desperate help)
03. Read more books and be lost in them
04. Inductive bible study of the OT
05. Learn Cantonese! (& someday, pick up German again.)
06. Pick up a new skill: literally anything at all
07. Take a short road trip. Anywhere.
08. Shop!
09. Work. AND. Enjoy every moment of it even if it might be unbearable, because every moment is a miracle. It is a gift that ought not be to wasted. Do not complain but instead, turn it into praise!
10. Be filled with the knowledge and grace of the Lord, thus being joyful in all circumstances.

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. Through many tribulations, we must enter the kingdom of God.” —1 Peter 4:12, Acts 14:22 (via skeuos)

“One of the axiomatic slogans of the Christian faith is the Latin phrase deus pro nobis, which means “God for us.” In the new testament the apostle Paul exclaimed: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). That God is for us is the cardinal point of the doctrine of providence. God was for Jacob. He had promised that to Jacob years before the brothers returned to him from Egypt without Simeon. But Jacob could not see how this could be. The very moment when he was most sure that all things, including God, were working against him, all things by the hand of God were actually working for him. God had sent Joseph into Egypt for a purpose. That purpose would be worked out on every page of redemptive history.” —

“In truth we may be confident that nothing bad will ever happen to us if we belong to Christ. This does not mean that nothing painful will ever happen. Our hearts may be broken a thousand times in this world, and our bodies wracked with pain. But these things are part of the Refiner’s fire, the crucible of the kingdom of God.” —R.C. Sproul, The Invisible Hand

I miss school for..

Ridiculously challenging projects, art history, (all the) cultural studies (modules), marketing, super cool & fun lecturers and endless laughter/chatters with crazy creative mates. (: best time of my life (thus far).

I can hardly believe one year ago, I was desperately waiting for my now (:
